Ever wondered why it's a huge map that greets you when you hop onto our site's home page?

Ever wondered why it’s a huge map that greets you when you hop onto our site’s home page?

CraftMNL began with the idea of building a community of crafters and makers, sharing resources, learning together, and supporting each others’ endeavors.  In order to do that, we kinda had to figure out where the crafters and makers are, with the notion that if we knew who the makers, crafters, artisans and supplies sources are in our respective areas, that would spur easier access, encourage gatherings and in general make the whole crafting community a lot livelier.  With the upsurge of craft-related events and activities, our excitement levels are going through the roof!  Wouldn’t it be cool if you got to see your city covered in pins representing different craft studios and activities?

Have you tried selecting your city to see what's up there? If you don't see anything, go and start a craft activity, or list your studio!

Along with the map feature, and the option to view different cities, we also have several craft categories that allow the viewer to narrow down a search if you’re looking for a specific craft item or event.  All you have to do is tick off the boxes of the categories you need, and their locations will appear on the map.

Apart from mapping crafter and maker studios, various craft events are also part of our mapping project.

Craft and Maker events are listed on the calendar too!

Listed events show up as map pins, which are also listed in the lower portion of the site.  If you’re looking for an activity based on your schedule, you can check out our calendar (thanks to one of our readers for suggesting this feature!).  All listed events are events in that particular city.

Seeing a visual representation of our maker culture would certainly give you an idea of how alive it is in our cities, our neighborhoods, even.  Would you like to add your studio or list your event to our maker map?  Go here.  You’ll have to register first though.  Registration is free.  🙂  If you don’t see your city listed, just send an email to yelle[at]craftmnl[dot]com and we’ll see what we can do.  Looking forward to seeing an active Maker Metro!
