Every month, we try to cook up something new to keep the creative vibe going.  This month, apart from the happy mix of our workshops, we’ve got something totally new to Craft MNL: kiddie art and craft workshops!

Paper quilling, anyone?

Creativity is something children possess in heaps!  This month, through the help of Isa Silva and Catherine Kahn of Artesanias Divertidas, we have a whole lineup of activities to keep their imaginations and fine motor skills warmed up and running!

We begin this October 13, Saturday, with 2 separate activities for kids aged 4-7, and the bigger kids aged 8-12.  We’ll be having decoupaged treasure boxes for the little ones, and upcycled clocks for the bigger kids, made from old CDs!  It’s never too early to teach kids the value of being resourceful, so from the start, upcycling is the way to go.

Our next session happens on October 20, Saturday, with both age groups preparing their very own Halloween Trick or Treat tote bags!

These are Halloween lanterns, done by previous students of Isa and Catherine.

So apart from Kiddie Art and Craft workshops, what else do we have in store for you?  Only awesome new stuff, of course.

For screen printing this month, we’re screen printing photograms!  Andrei and Sheina of Hocus will be showing you what designs you can come up  with using a light box and a variety of objects!  If you aren’t familiar with photograms, try to think of the effect of photocopying your hand–but instead of your hand, assemble stuff to produce shadow-like silhouettes to form patterns–think lace, flowers, nuts and bolts and whatever else you can bring that has interesting shapes!  The various textures and thicknesses of the objects will form a play on the silhouette’s opacity.  Now, after assembling those objects and producing their silhouettes on a screen, try screen printing them!  🙂  Since you can assemble the items you want to make silhouettes out of any way you want (to form other shapes, etc.), the possibilities are endless!  Intrigued?  Scroll to the bottom to register.

We’ve also got basic crochet this month too, with the Gantsilyo Guru, Trey Ajusto!  Trey is a whiz at crochet, and apart from knowing the craft inside-out, she also makes patterns herself!  Been wanting to get your lola on?  Scroll down for the schedule.

Trey doing a bit of show and tell during the Etsy Craft Party last August.

Apart from crochet, we’ve also got scrapbooking!  Crafting isn’t quite complete without scrapbooking!  But in addition to the crafty high of creating pretty collages out of bits and pieces of memories, our scrapbooking queen Jona Panesa will show you how to assemble your own scrapbook out of old desktop calendars!  Been wanting to scrapbook?  This is the perfect time.  Check out the schedule below.

This is an upcycled scrapbook album! Isn’t it pretty?

We’ve also got a sold-out calligraphy session with the amazing Fozzy De Castro-Dayrit–gosh, with a few tweets (and sans poster at that), her session got all filled up.  Don’t worry though, we’re booking more calligraphy workshops for next year!

Apart from these, we’ve got bookbinding with Nikki, and rubbercut printing with Fara!  This time for rubbercut, we’re going to try making monogram stamps out of our available rubber, and some wooden blocks.

Woohoo, we’re packed for this month!  Check out the whole lineup below:
