You are the ink to my nib, the glue to my glue gun, the ephemera to my acrylic emulsion…this love month we’re posting a gallery of craft-supportive significant others! Let’s show some love for the folks who cheer us on as we do…what we love doing. Valentine’s isn’t over yet! Meet Rae of Wicked Crafts and her craft-supportive husband RG! Rae is also behind Little Miss Pinay Crafter (wow, it’s amazing how the community just grows and grows).
How does your significant other/partner show support for your craft?
My husband comes from the finance field (he’s a stock trader) and so it pleases me to no end when he expresses his support to my craft endeavours. When I first told him about my concept for Wicked Crafts, he was instantly smitten by it and encouraged me to pursue it. During the trial gig of Wicked Crafts, he even offered to carry all my stuff, set up my booth, take pictures, and, at the end of the day, evaluate the service and the business as a whole. That led me to fine-tune Wicked Crafts and I still share ideas with him to this day. I may be incredibly crafty but I need help with numbers (like many craftpreneurs are!) and my husband helps me out with finances and accounting and all that stuff. Apart from that, he lets me go on craft shopping trips and shares my Wicked Crafts posts online!
What do you like most about the support you get? How do you show appreciation for that?
My husband’s unwavering support encourages me to push myself to my limits (and possibly even exceed them!). I always love that feeling that I can do anything, knowing that he is always there to cheer me on.
Support and encouragement in our relationship are things that we bless each other with. Even though I may not know much about his field, I listen to his stories and ideas (sometimes, I may surprise myself with sharing an idea or two!) and go to client meetings with him. I also push him (nag? Hahaha!) to pursue his other interests like learning a new language.
What activities do you love doing together?
We both love to eat! And we eat loads as a rule! Hahaha! We love trying out new restaurants, especially hole-in-the-wall places. But he also tells me that he loves staying in because he loves my cooking (he supports even my simple homecooked meals!). We also love to watch DVDs at home and we also like travelling to new places.
