About the Workshop
Beginner-friendly papermaking workshop with a focus on pulp-painting.
This workshop aims to:
- encourage the participants to engage their senses with papermaking, allowing their minds and bodies to experience the process;
- allow participants to actively pursue mindfulness and self-exploration; and
- teach pulp-painting as an expressive art practice that exercises creativity
List of tools and materials for sharing:
- Mould & deckle (mini)
- Squeeze bottles
- Sticks
- Sponge
- Vat
- Couching sheet
- Pulp
- Acetate
Inclusions:
- 5 mini squeeze bottles with chosen color of pulp
- 1 big deckle
- 1 white board
- 1 white board marker
- 1 couching sheet
Workshop output:
three pulp painting (exercise work, abstract, painting inspired)
Things to prepare:
Comfy clothes, along with extra clothes as they will likely get a bit wet
Expect to learn a bit about traditional and modern papermaking
Francine Lima
Workshop Instructor
Francine Lima is a book artist and papermaker based in Metro Manila. She started as a self-taught bookbinder and has branched out after studying under book artists and papermakers locally and abroad. She aims to use book arts to create works that emphasize the intimate process of working with paper, fibers, and other materials, while emphasizing personal and social issues. As much as possible, she tries to incorporate natural, handmade, and repurposed elements into her work.
