About the Instructor
Joanna dela Peña, is a full-time single mom to an 8-year-old little girl, and a papercut enthusiast. Hailing from Malabon, she loves cupcakes and dogs and all things that are simple yet unique. She loves to travel, and believes in the philosophy of staying true to one’s word. Her life’s mantra: “choose to see the good in everything.”
She first discovered papercutting in January of 2015. Easing into the craft, she found her way through eagerness and determination. As with all things that are worth doing, it took time and effort to make her initial pieces, and though critiques were discouraging, Joanna forged on, learning from the practice. Things paid off when after hours and hours of practice, and a number of papercut pieces later, she felt more confident, and after putting her work out there, the custom orders started rolling in.
For Joanna: “Papercutting is never to be rushed nor timed. It is not about how quick you finish your work piece but how you relish its’ process and be awed once finished.”
